The Manor of Lavauguyot, managed by Fréderic BROCHET rest the flagship from the vineyard of the department of Vienne. This exceptional terroir which was relaunched in 1996, succeed to the historical work of the Champalou family who had created the local friary after the war and before the war, the singer Rodolphe Salis.

The Manor is home to an impressive monolithic cellar dig in the limestone during the time of the congregation of the sisters of Notre Dame Poitiers around 1085 and which would have served as a place of worship for the Hundred Years War.

History:

It is for a less mystical use but just as occult which was used in 19th century by Rodolphhe Salis and his happy group of associates, “the hydropathes”. The famous creator of the “Chat-Noir” cabaret in Paris; made famous by the Steilin poster; took up residence there regularly, the Manor having been bought by his aunt, and was there, it seems, an inappropriate use between the cellar and the bedrooms… A place a long way from Paris, where mingled cockiness and cheekiness. When he died in 1897, his heir will give to manor wines the name Vins du Chat-Noir, with a distinctive label. The Vins du Chat-Noir are also very successful from 1947, the vineyard having escaped at the spring frost, under the leadership of George Champalou, personal friend of Charles Exbrayat, famous novelist who has dedicated many novels for his friends and their already precious bottles.

Offering an exceptional panorama on the Vienne department, the manor of Lavauguyot welcomes you in the middle of the poitevin vines for tasting, visit, stay or else for your craziest events! Assured crush!
